Summer Sports Camp

The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives. And the benefits are far greater than just physical health. Whether it’s gaining confidence or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out. Did you know that basketball and volleyball were invented by early YMCA leaders? Our sports programs develop more than skills—they develop character. We offer a variety of programs that emphasize teamwork, cooperation, and developing good values. Youth of all ages are able to develop positive relationships and a sense of belonging. YMCA resident camp nurtures the potential of youth and creates a sense of community among campers of all ages through a wide variety of skill building outdoor program activities. Resident camp combines well-trained young adult leaders with middle school and teenage campers for an extended number of days in exceptional outdoor environments that provide outstanding physical activity and healthy living experiences. During resident camp programs, both staff and campers develop lifelong friendships and memorable experiences.

Friendships bring participants back year after year and can lead to lifelong engagement with the Y. Campers of all ages and abilities find success through the skill-building opportunities of camp programs; they take home more self confidence and better values and from their Y camp experience.
