Families come in all sizes and shapes and so do YMCA Family Programs. Our programs strengthen family ties by offering a safe, welcoming environment for kids and parents to communicate, cooperate, and have fun. Family programs include health and fitness activities, pool and gym activities, family nights, camping, and other events. Join the YMCA as a family—you'll be glad you did!
New events are coming to the Y for family fun! If you have any suggestions on what you would like the Y to offer in means of Family Fun Nights email Stephanie Silva, Associate Program Director at stephanie.silva@ciymca.org or Opal Andreatta, Kid's Corner Lead at opal.andreatta@ciymca.org. Thank you for your input!
Almost 200 community members entered our doors and registered for our Healthy Kids Day event. Out of those 200, 60 of were kids who came to have fun and learn about being healthy and active. The event was a success we had 5 local vendors, 8 community partners, and 3 class demonstrations. The Garcia's Dance Studio put on a beautiful display of differnt variations of Flamenco Dancing. Our very own Lompoc Police Department had a detailed display of mock weaponry used by our Special Enforcement Officers and two vehicles they use such as their SWAT vehicle, which was where children and adults a like could explore the inside. The PAL wall was also a big hit thanks to the Hall family! The Kendal-Sheppard Eye Center and the CHCC's Dr. Olsen provided free eye and teeth checks for all the children who stopped by their booths. The Lompoc Valley Medical Center and Lompoc Unified School District educated parents on the importance of healthy snacks and meals at home and at school. We had an awsome turn out for our other demos in Martial Arts, with Jeasun, and Family Zumba with Instructor Reashele Rozet. I would like to thank our community partners the Boys and Girls Club and the Lompoc Parks, Recreation, and Urban Foresty for offering alternative outlets during the summer to keep children active. I would also like to thank 97.5 the Kruz for covering the Healthy Kids Day event of all the Channel Island YMCA's.
