At the Y, sports and recreational activities are something special. Friendly competition (even with yourself), lots of variety and a supportive environment means team sports and recreation is fun again, and it makes for a healthier lifestyle and a good story or two.
So many activities serve to restore our spirits and energy, get us outdoors or test our limits. And for many of us, they’re the foundation of active living and rewarding relationships. Many recreational activities are available at your Y, so it may be time for you to try something new.
Like all Y programs, sports and recreation is open to all, with financial assistance available.
DO MORE BE MORE. The main mission of this event is to empower youth to have high self-esteem. We will have multiply events for youth ages 8-11 to particpate in like the standing long jum, shot put, discus, and sprinting events.
Additional help can be sought out through our track and field trainers for an additional cost. Each 1 hour session is $10.00 per and can be scheduled through the Member Service Desk. Trainers will encourage this by motivating participants to be healthy, physically active, and to have fun doing it. We will have multiple training dates for children to learn and improve techniques for each event.
Each training date will be approximately 1.5 hours depending on the group size and skill level.
Our trainers are local high school students who have track and field experience. If you have any further questions regarding training dates or Track and Field Trainers contact Brian Engler our Youth Coordinator. He can be reached at 805.736.3483 or at Brian.Engler@ciymca.org.
This class helps introduce the basics of martial arts to the children ages 3-5 and helps build character development. Instructors will teach kids basic nutrition, go over our Character Counts Pillars, and help kids make new friends. This class may require parent participation.
Tumbling for ages 3-5 is a way for your child to learn and fine tune their motor skills and special awareness. The Instructor will introduce basic techniques of rolling, balancing and safety. This class may require parent participation.
Is your child interested in designing, constructing, and programing their own intelligent invention? Then click here for more information or email Program Director Stephanie Saucedo at Stephanie.Saucedo@ciymca.org.
