About
When people join the Montecito Family
YMCA, wonderful things start to happen.
They find the strength and support to
stretch their capabilities and develop in ways
they never thought possible.
Our YMCA is a multi-faceted organization
reaching out to offer its services and ideals
to more people than ever before.
Regardless of age, lifestyle or interests, it’s a
sure bet that the YMCA has programs which
address your needs. The YMCA’s highly
trained staff also takes special care to design
programs and activities that instruct and
challenge our members... not just occupy
their time.
From fitness to basketball. From Youth & Government to
Family Skate Nights. From Y-Guides to Learn
to Swim. The Montecito Family YMCA
continues its long-standing tradition of
community development through the
building of healthy bodies, strong minds and
spirit, never once forgetting the
goals that have guided our growth and
development through the years:
- To Strengthen the Family Unit
- To Develop Leadership Qualities
- To Promote Healthy Lifestyles
- To Increase International, Interracial and Intercultural Understanding
- To Facilitate Community Development
- To Develop an Appreciation and Respect for the Environment
The Montecito Family YMCA exists because
of people in our community coming
together... people with the desire to do
something to help themselves, their
neighbors and community become
something better. YMCA members,
volunteers and staff share their time and
effort to make available to people of all ages
and levels of ability, programs that make a
difference by helping people grow in Spirit,
Mind and Body, and practice our Core Values
of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility,
fairness, caring, and citizenship.
Character Counts!
The YMCA is part of the Character Counts Coalition whose purpose is to strengthen the
character of young people today and thereby safeguard tomorrow for all. The Coalition
works to overcome the notion that a single value is intrinsically superior to another; that
ethical values must vary by race, class, gender, and politics. The Coalition strives to build
consensus that however diverse our opinions and personalities and backgrounds, there are
values that clearly define us at our best. These values, called “Pillars of Character” are
trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. The
Montecito Family YMCA actively incorporates these Pillars in all programs and activities.
