2008 Campaign for Youth
This year's goal is to serve 3,000 children and families. The Annual Campaign raises funds to provide scholarships and underwrite programs so they can stay affordable. To do this important work, the YMCA must raise $160,000; the funds will be allocated as follows:
$50,500 Childcare scholarships to enable boys and girls
from families in need to attend our Preschool
Program. 25% of children need year-round
financial assistance
$24,000 Camp Scholarships for elementary aged boys
and girls enabling them to have a summer filled
with day camp experiences. 900 youth
participated, 31% of whom are on financial
assistance.
$25,500 After School Child Care Scholarships, helping
families meet the needs of work, school, and
safe affordable childcare.
$18,500 Teen Travel Camps, Resident Camps, and Family
Camps.
$15,500 To support programs for East Santa Barbara
and Carpinteria youth including sports leagues,
Eastside spring Learn-To-Swim program, and
Rainbow Camp providing Cleveland School
students recreational and skill development.
$ 9,500 To provide important family programming through
our Y-Guides for dads & their sons or daughters,
Family nights and develop new family programs.
$ 9,000 Financial Assistance to enable boys & girls to
participate in a wide variety of skill, enrichment
and sports programs.
$ 7,500 Adaptive programs for our physically challenged
participants and those recovering from traumatic
injury or illness.
Every year your YMCA builds strong kids, strong families & strong communities by offering programs that inspire and develop self-confidence and healthy lifestyles. The 2008 Campaign for Youth is more than money. The purpose of the Campaign is:
To build a broad base of community support among
individuals, businesses and organizations who believe that the
YMCA is
important to our community.
To enlist a significant number of YMCA members and YMCA
friends who will support our work in the community and the
opportunities we have to render service to others.
To interpret our values to the community.
To be able to improve and expand our programs and services
for children, youth, adults and families.
The Montecito Family YMCA provides children, youth, and families and
individuals from all economic backgrounds the opportunity to participate in programs and activities which would be out of their reach financially without this Campaign.
The YMCA seeks to enrich the lives of all its participants, helping to establish lifetime goals of wellness and healthy living, and strengthen families. The YMCA provides character building programs for youth to enable them to become productive members of our community, make positive and wholesome choices, respect other people and their property. Learn leadership skills that can be used to have a positive influence, feel good about themselves so they can resist negative pressure, and appreciate their families, communities and country.

Volunteers
YMCAs are first and foremost volunteer organizations. Volunteers are at the heart of every YMCA organization. As a YMCA volunteer, you can lead an exercise class, read to a preschool class, coach a basketball team, cook for a bake sale, design a program brochure, greet people at the front desk, find items for an auction, serve as a role model for young people, help out in the office or at a special event, or be part of a group or committee working on a neighborhood problem. No matter how you help, you'll make a big difference as you work with others to create a feeling of connectedness in your community.
Get Involved as a YMCA Donor
YMCAs embrace people of all ages, incomes, abilities, religions and ethnic backgrounds; they're for everyone. Children and families who cannot afford to pay full costs deserve the experiences the Y offers as much as those who can. Your support, which goes beyond membership fees, helps YMCAs provide programs to those who otherwise couldn't afford to participate.
