Youth camp Gaines and teen camp redwood

These separate camps are located in Camp Miramonte, California, near Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks on beautiful Sequoia Lake. Campers share cabins with friends and meet new cabin mates from other Channel Islands YMCAs. Cabin activities lead by both campers and counselors follow our Character Counts! Program.

Some activities include archery, crafts, lake swimming, hiking, and a rock climbing wall, campfires, the YMCA Rags Program and a nondenominational chapel.  In the afternoon campers will spend their time with their specialty group.  Space is limited in each theme, so pick wisely and have the best week of your life!

Campers will stay in rustic cabins, eat family style with their cabin in the dining hall, and enjoy all that camp has to offer plus indoor plumbing.  This all takes place in a safe and fun setting with trained, caring volunteers and professional staff.

Campers experience extreme caravan camping with a new activity every day! Teens will enjoy outdoor adventures in Northern California like river rafting, setting up camp, cooking meals. Campers provide their own tents for rustic living and shared cooking, kitchen duties, campfires and more!

Volunteer Vacation

Imagine this year your summer vacation is one week on a private lake two and a half miles around and a mile high in elevation. We have a great opportunity for you to be a camp counselor. Work with campers age 9-15 and peers from 16-116! If you think you could have fun being a mentor, playing with kids, making art projects, swimming in the lake, canoeing, shooting arrows, river rafting, hiking through the Sequoias, hanging out at a dance, or working with tomorrow’s leaders, this is the opportunity for you.

Bring your best friend or siblings along to create lasting memories together. Just one week can give you enriching experiences, memories and friendships that last a lifetime as our volunteer team members often develop a sense of camaraderie and ‘family’ while on volunteer vacation together. All expenses are paid.
