About
Mission
The Mission of the Stuart C. Gildred Family YMCA is to put Christian Principles into practice through programs that develop the spiritual, mental, physical and social lives of all.
Our YMCA is a multi-faceted organization reaching out to offer its services and ideals to more people than ever before.
Character Counts
At the YMCA good character and values are an important part of everything we do. By teaching, enforcing, advocating, and modeling the six pillars of character, we build strong kids, strong families, and a stronger community for all.
Six Pillars of Character Counts
- Caring
- Citizenship
- Fairness
- Respect
- Responsibility
- Trustworthiness
Regardless of age, lifestyle or interests, it's a sure bet that the YMCA has programs which address your needs. The YMCA's highly trained staff also takes special care to design programs and activities that instruct and challenge our members - not just occupy their time.
From aerobics to youth basketball. From Youth and Government to Parents Night Out. From Y-Indian Guides to Learn to Swim. The Stuart C. Gildred Family YMCA continues its long-standing tradition of community development through the building of healthy bodies, strong minds and high self-esteem, never once forgetting the goals that have guided our growth and development through the years:
- To Strengthen the Family Unit
- To Develop Leadership Qualities
- To Promote Healthy Lifestyles
- To Increase International, Interracial and Intercultural Understanding
- To Facilitate Community Development
- To Develop an Appreciation and Respect for the Environment
The Stuart C. Gildred Family YMCA exists because of people in our community coming together…people with the desire to do something to help themselves, their neighbors and community become something better. YMCA members, volunteers and staff share their time and effort to make available to people of all ages and levels of ability, programs that make a difference by helping people grow in Spirit, Mind and Body.
