Youth Corner: Writings
Students from Santa Barbara Junior High wrote their stories about bullying
Being bullied
Ugly Bruises
Lie about bruises
Lumps all over my body
"Once at Santa Barbara Jr. High I saw someone being bullied at the locker room area. The bullies were ganging up on one kid. The kid had a sad and embarrassed look on his face. I felt sorry for the kid. I wish I could've stopped the bullying but it was a pretty big group. Some kids gor scared and they get threatened by the bullies if they tell. Why won't bullying stop"?
"Once at school, on my way to get a basketball during lunch, I saw three big kids and one smaller kid who was walking by. They stopped him in his tracks and shoved him. I kept on walking, trying not to be noticed. I was amazed about how cruel they were to the innocent kid just walking by. I had no idea why they had been so mean to the kid. I was glad I wasn't the kid. I felt bad for him and hoped it wouldn't happen to him again".
"Almost everyday during lunch there is a girl who is mentally retarded sort of and when she goes over to our table some people immediately start reasing her about her clothes or something. When they don't tease they just laugh or snicker at her. I think she feels sad or maybe even questioning why she was even born. It is very depressing to see someone being hurt like that".
Being teased, harrassed and disrespected is an unhappy feeling
Living down ~ inside
Living in fear ~ inside
In your worries you do not come to school, but in return you don't get a good work
One day when I was in elementary school some kid punched this kid in the stomach and took the air out of him and I felt guilty because I didn't tell
People don't know how it feels to be bullied by a parent or guardian, I don't,
It's like having someone who you thought you knew betray you, even if I don't know - it hurts
It hurts to be abused or teased
to threaten
Emotion pushed on others
Annoyed
Sad
Embarrassed
