Dance Classes

Wiggle, shimmy, shake and groove! Dance helps people of all ages to embrace their own individuality. YMCA Dance programs focus on skills, poise and discipline while never losing sight of fun! Whether your child’s style is jazzy, funky or graceful, dance allows kids to exercise in an invigorating and fun environment.

Dance offers many positive physical benefits and improves confidence and self-esteem!

Ballet: Our Ballet classes are designed to inspire and encourage your child while instructing them in essential ballet positions, such as foot and posture alignment, working at the barre, executing floor exercises, turns, leaps and more.

Boys Dance: Whether your child’s style is jazzy, funky or graceful, dance allows kids to exercise in an invigorating and fun environment.

Hip Hop: Our Hip Hop classes are fun, high-energy dance sessions that promote physical agility and fitness. Hip Hop will teach your child to listen and respond to musical cues, as well as increase their overall health and wellness. All musical selections and dance moves are age appropriate.

Instructor Info: Sarah DeGuzman
Sarah DeGuzman began her dance training at the age 4, studying tap, ballet, jazz, and contemporary forms of dance. As a youth she danced competitively throughout southern California. Sarah received her BA in Human Development from the University of California San Diego, where she was a member of the UCSD competitive dance team and studied modern dance. She danced professionally as a member of the Collette Harding Contemporary Dance Company, three seasons of Trolley Dances, and as a performer at Legoland California.

Sarah began teaching in 2012 at various dance studios training dancers of all ages in tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary styles of dance both for competition and recreation. She taught preschool for 7 years and designed her own arts-based preschool program, which opened its doors in 2014. Sarah has two little boys of her own, the older of which she is currently homeschooling. Teaching is truly her passion and she is excited to bring her talents to our community here at the Camarillo YMCA.
