Living Longer, Living Stronger

It’s never too late to feel great! Our Active Older Adult (AOA) program is for men and women. AOA strives to offer a comprehensive and integrated program that encourages members to remain strong in the areas of physical, emotional, social, vocational, intellectual and spiritual well-being.

The YMCA offers a variety of wellness opportunities for active older adults—from baby boomers to seniors—including physical fitness, social activities and more. Our active older adults can also participate in group exercise classes designed to meet their specific needs. At the Y, our adult exercise classes promote fitness and well-being while fostering friendship. Our volunteering and social events help build lasting relationships and community ties.

Here are ways to stay involved:

Meets the first Friday of each month at 10:30am in the Del Mar Branch Lounge. Seniors are welcome to visit and join the committee, which coordinates certain activities and events.

AOA Committee sponsors day trips through Santa Barbara Airbus Trips include Huntington Library, the Norton Simon Museum, the Hearst Castle, RMS Queen Mary, the LA Farmers Market and more.

Friday mornings, the AOA Committee sets up a book exchange in our front lobby. Drop off a book or two and pick one up!

Refresh your skills and perhaps qualify for lower insurance rates. If you are a driver age 50+ and have never looked back since you got your first driver’s license, you will benefit from brushing up
