Senior Fitness At The Ventura Family YMCA

Our Active Older Adult (AOA) program is for all seniors looking to start or maintain a fitness program. AOA strives to offer a comprehensive and integrated program that encourages members to remain strong in the areas of physical, emotional, social, vocational, intellectual and well-being. Program is for all seniors looking to start or maintain a fitness program. Feel great at any age!

Classes For Active Older Adults

Senior TRX

Join us on Wednesday mornings for our new Senior TRX fitness program and let us guide you through exercises to strengthen and tone your entire body using the TRX suspension strap system. Safe and effective, the TRX training system will help to improve muscular strength, body awareness, and form. Registration is required for this program.

Fees: $50 Facility Membership, $65 Program Membership
Session Dates: April 15 – June 8
Class Times: Wednesdays at 8:30am-9:15am

S.S.S 

Active Older Adults will have fun as they safely improve balance, learn versatile breathing techniques, & functional skills through a variety of seated & standing yoga poses during this 45-minute class. A chair is offered for balance & support.

Zumba Gold 

Everything you love about Zumba at a slower pace.

Classic 

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

T’ai Chi 

The core training involves two primary features: the first being the solo form, a slow sequence of movements which emphasize a straight spine, abdominal breathing and a natural range of motion; the second being different styles of pushing hands for training movement principles of the form.

International Folk Dance 

This class is all about dancing without borders! Dance to music from around the world. All while connecting to many cultures and exercising with old and new friends!
