When you give to the Y, your generosity helps children achieve their potential, empowers people to lead healthier lives, and strengthens the bonds of community throughout our city.
A Y commissioned consumer survey measured how Americans view quality of life in their communities nationwide. The survey was based on several factors, such as community member involvement and the quality of a community’s services, ranging from education to public safety. Interestingly, the survey revealed a 30 percent gap between what people say is most important in creating a strong community and how satisfied they are with their own communities in those areas. When asked for the solution to closing this gap, survey respondents held themselves accountable. Survey respondents feel it’s important to contribute their time and money to community causes. They expect more from their community – and each other.
The Y is one of the largest charities in the nation and a cause worth investing in. The Y is asking for help from the community to continue our vital work. Your donations make these services possible in Santa Barbara:
Provide a safe place, meals, showers and a bed for thousands of homeless, foster youth, runaway, throwaway and at-risk youth
Offer basic needs assistance, counseling, referrals and assistance with employment and other life skills to youth on the streets
Bring quality after-school programs, a safe haven and drop-in center for youth, away from gang activities and instead offer enrichment opportunities and recreation to youth and families living in Isla Vista and Goleta
Support the housing program for homeless youth ages 18-24, providing housing as well as life skills, employment, education and counselling services to help youth build a successful path to independence
Financial gifts of any amount will help to close the gap and help to strengthen our city by helping individuals and families become connected and supported.
