As families prepare for the start of a new school year, the Channel Islands YMCA is helping ensure local children have the tools they need to succeed.
Through the Channel Islands YMCA’s annual Backpack Drive, YMCAs throughout the Central Coast came together this summer to collect new and unused backpacks for children and families who need a little extra support as they head back to school. This year, the association collected more than 1,500 backpacks, which will be distributed to families across the communities served by the YMCA.
“Starting a new school year should be an exciting time for every child,” said Margo Byrne, President & CEO of the Channel Islands YMCA. “We are incredibly grateful to the donors, members, volunteers, and school district partners who helped make this year’s drive such a success.”
