Dr. Roberto Gonzalez

The Channel Islands YMCA is proud to welcome Dr. Roberto Gonzalez as the newest member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Gonzalez brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in higher education, along with a deep commitment to equity, access, and community-centered service.

Dr. Gonzalez currently serves as the President of Oxnard College. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of California, Los Angeles, a Master’s degree in Counseling from California State University, Long Beach, and a Doctorate in Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern California.

With over two decades of experience in the California Community College System, Dr. Gonzalez has dedicated his career to empowering students and fostering equitable access to education. This perspective aligns closely with the YMCA’s mission to strengthen communities and ensure everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Dr. Gonzalez’s expertise in education and equity will support the Channel Islands YMCA’s work across youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, helping to expand impact and deepen community partnerships throughout the region.
