Youth & Family Services YMCA, in partnership with local philanthropist Steve Lyons, is pleased to invite the community to a special Open House at “The Lyons House.” This event offers the public an exclusive opportunity to tour the newly established residence on De La Guerra Street, designed to support transitional-age youth as they move toward independent adulthood.
Scheduled to open in early 2025, The Lyons House will provide critical housing and support services for young adults aging out of the foster care system in Santa Barbara County. The program will accommodate up to nine individuals, ages 18-21, in a dorm-style residence staffed by a clinical director and resident assistants. Youth will receive counseling, case management, workshops, and group activities to develop life skills.
“We are excited to support our community youth in need of these critical services,” said Margo Byrne, CEO of the Channel Islands YMCA. “As a community-focused organization, we understand the unique needs of youth in Santa Barbara County.”
The Open House will provide an opportunity for community members to explore the space, meet the dedicated team behind the program, and learn more about the services offered. The event will be held on two different days allowing visitors to stop by at their convenience during the designated hours. No RSVP will be needed to attend.
