Health and Fitness | Best of Ventura County 2021 Congratulations to the Ventura Family YMCA for being voted the best gym in Ventura County! They also received Honorable Mention for Best Nonprofit Organization and Reader Recommended Place to Swim.

The Isla Vista Community Services District (IVCSD) partnered with Isla Vista Youth Projects (IVYP) and Channel Island YMCA St. George Youth Center (SGYC) this year to provide summer programs to Isla Vista’s youth.

The Stuart C. Gildred Family YMCA will offer a free, 12-week LIVESTRONG wellness program from Sept. 1 to Nov. 22. 

Youth & Family Services, a branch of the Channel Islands YMCA, has announced four new board members from the Santa Barbara area.

Marcus Kocmur has been named the new chair of the Channel Islands YMCA Board of Directors. Kocmur succeeds Gail Anikouchine, who continues to serve on the board after completing her term as chair. The board of directors also has announced one new member for the 2021-23 term.  

The Channel Islands YMCA Youth and Family Services will kick off its second annual Backpack Give Back on Thursday, July 1, to support local at-risk youth and provide the necessary tools to prepare them for the coming school year.
