As families prepare for the start of a new school year, the Channel Islands YMCA is helping ensure local children have the tools they need to succeed.

The Channel Islands YMCA is pleased to announce the appointment of Paige Harris as Executive Director of the Lompoc Family YMCA. A seasoned YMCA professional with more than 13 years of experience, Harris brings a passion for relationship-building, community engagement, and youth development to her new role.

Channel Islands YMCA Youth & Family Services (YFS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jordan Killebrew and Dr. Serena Cyr to its Board of Directors. Together, they bring experience in community engagement, communications, advocacy, behavioral health, and youth and family support.

Channel Islands YMCA just opened a new transitional home in Santa Barbara, offering young adults experiencing homelessness a place to rebuild and gain independence.The Mission House will welcome eight residents between the ages of 18 and 21.Residents can stay for up to eighteen months while receiving support for education, employment, and everyday life skills.

Longtime community leader Geri LaChance was named San Luis Obispo’s 2025 citizen of the year. The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce honored LaChance and her contributions to the community during its annual dinner on Saturday night alongside more than 600 guests, a news release said. During the past 14 years, LaChance held numerous leadership roles and supported many community programs.
