The Channel Islands YMCA Association is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its 6th Annual Backpack Give Back, a community-wide campaign that collected over 1,100 backpacks for local vulnerable youth in need, more than doubling the total collected in the past two years combined.
Each year, the Backpack Give Back initiative helps ensure that vulnerable youth and families across the Central Coast start the school year with one of the most essential tools for academic success: a backpack. These backpacks are more than just a place to store books and supplies, they are a symbol of care, dignity, and the community’s commitment to support every child’s education journey.
“This effort is our way of giving back,” said Margo Byrne, President & CEO of the Channel Islands YMCA Association. “Through our partners, members, and generous donors, we’re making the upcoming school year a little brighter for parents and students alike.”
